The co-owners and director of MJ Buyers have created a secure and professional environment for those interested in learning the value of their jewelry, coins, and other treasures.

MJ Buyers was established in December of 2009 as a division of MacLaren Jewelers. MJ Buyers specializes in the purchase of estate and fine jewelry, precious metals and gems, offering a variety of services including assessments, consultations, verification of values and assistance in the areas of estate, insurance and divorce settlements.

Willie Munford

WILLIE MUNFORD, Director of MJ Buyers

Willie Munford, III, is the Director of MJ Buyers and has 34 years of experience in the jewelry industry. Most of those years were accrued right here in the Richmond area working for and managing several of the area's top jewelry stores. A graduate of Hermitage High School, he pursued a degree in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Willie most enjoys meeting with clients and listening to the stories that are associated with each piece of jewelry. Because he recognizes and appreciates the emotional attachment and significance of each piece, Mr. Munford treats clients with dignity and respect ultimately offering the fairest of market values.

Willie has been a featured speaker at various retirement communities and assisted living facilities. He loves to educate and caution the public on the "do's and don'ts" of selling jewelry in today's market and society.

Willie is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi and is a Pastor's Aid at Faith Landmark Ministries. He is a member of the West Richmond Businessmen's Association.

 

KATY AND LARRY BRYDON ~ Co-Owners and Managing Directors

Larry Brydon, co-owner and managing director of MacLaren Jewelers, has over 40 years experience in the jewelry business. 

He is a graduate of St. Christopher's School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the Virginia Military Institute...where he sold his first diamond!  His 20-year banking career spans positions from teller to President and CEO.   He is a graduate of Command and General Staff College, United States Army and is a retired Lieutenant Colonel, USA.

Larry has been active in volunteer work on both the west coast:  Rotary International,  The American Cancer Society (VP Fundraising) and east coast:  Kiwanis International (Foundation Treasurer),  member of The St. Andrew's Society of Washington, D.C. and a Founding Director of the American Foundation for the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland.  

Katy Brydon joins her husband, Larry as co-owner and managing director of MacLaren Jewelers.   

She began her music career in San Diego, CA.  Attending St. George's School, Switzerland, graduating from San Diego High School and going on to Indiana University School of Music, Katy was a Corbett Foundation Fellow and accepted a contract to sing at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in the late 1960's.  In 1971 she sang major and supporting roles with the Oldenburg Opera in northern Germany. In the U.S., she performed on both coasts on the opera and concert stage, and then became a Presentational Effort coach teaching for many years in San Diego, Irvington, VA and at St. Catherine's School in Richmond.

She is a member of the Woman's Club and a Founding Director of the American Foundation for the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland.
